Maybe a permissions repair executed from the recovery partition might help.
That is, if you actually don't have a full HD, though it is being reported
as such.

I have begun reading the documentation, and there in lies my problem. I'm
unable to get bootcamp assistant to create a windows partition on the hard
disc. It says there's not enough space. With a 128 GB SSD, I'm not sure why
this error is occurring. Due to my research, I thought partitioning the disc
would be a fix. Apparently, this is not the case.
Thank you.

have you read through the bootcamp documentation? It sounds like you're
attempting to do this without having read the basics. I wouldn't suggest
doing anything until you've thoroughly read and understood the steps
involved in installing window in bootcamp. The bootcamp utility will do
the partitioning for you as part of the install process. The answers to
you're questions are there for the reading.

Subject: Does the hard disc need to be partitioned for boot camp?
Hi all,
Relating to my earlier post about bootcamp and it saying the hard disc
doesn't have enough space to be partitioned, will it work if I partition
my hard disc? Going from 1 to 2 partitions? i'm in the process of backing
up my most important files, and will then partition the hard disc from the
disc utilities screen in the recovery window reached by command R. Thanks
to those who suggested it earlier. that was the step I was missing to get
there.
So if someone could confirm if dividing of the HD into 2 partitions will
be what I need for a successful install of windows 7 with boot camp, I'd
greatly appreciate it!
Thanks,
Rachel
