I recently bought a 2012 Mac Minnie, with the default 4 gbs of ram, I also
bought a 16 2 stick ram kit from Amazon for $70 and installed myself, not
very hard to do. a second drive is also doable, but I wouldn't try this on my
own, it's just to deep into the mini, but if you have sighted help from someone
that is some what techy go for it. I will be adding one soon...

Subject: Mac mini ram and hd questions

I was certain that I had read somewhere that you could have two drives in a
mac Mini, 2012 model. But on the Apple site, the build to order options don't
allow for that. Am I nuts? Or is this a possible after market add on? I know
there aren't many of those. Also curious about peoples' experiences with ram.
I'm thinking of the 8 gb upgrade, although there is a 16-gb for 200 dollars
more than the 8. I want to run Windows and Mac os, because I still need MS Word
and still use k1000. Hence the interest in two drives. I don't do any real big
deal processing things on the Mac or Windows, for that matter. But if I had a
vm running and email up and software speech and scanning program etc, would the
8 gb suffice? I'd hate to buy an IMac, because I don't need the display nor
another keyboard nor a mouse, so it just seems kind of wasteful; hence my
interest in another mini. The one I have now is a bit over 3 years old and
still going strong, but it runs sl, and I'm starting to have issues, like not
being able to use the nightly webkit builds anymore, and I suspect that the web
issues are only going to get worse, not better.
