I haven't had this problem, but sighted assistance isn't necessary to power
down and then power up the Mac.
All you need do is press and hold the power button for five seconds or so,
and the Mac will shut down. Wait a good thirty seconds and then press the
button again to power up the Mac.

Have any of you had problems using bluetooth headsets with the Mac? I had
some serious issues which has led me never to try a bluetooth headset with
my Mac again. In particular, when the headset ran out of batteries, turned
off and then I turned it back on again, I could get system sounds through
the headset but not VoiceOver. VoiceOver didn't come back until I got
sighted help to turn the Mac off and back on again.
