Hi Stacie: I have a 2009 Macbook Pro and previously updated to Lion. I hated it! It's been a while, so I can't remember just why. I did eventually update to ML, and I do like it. I seem to recall that the white Macbooks couldn't be updated to ML. Someone else will need to advise about Lion.
Just because I didn't like it doesn't mean you won't, but I just thought I'd throwt that out there.
