On this note, I'd like to revisit bug #630.[1] With the HUGE influx of new
users we've been getting on Bugzilla lately, the number of incoming reports has
been skyrocketing.[2] This has not only been a major strain on our triagers,
but is severely reducing the response rate on the useful reports.[3]

Despite the progress we've made on bug #630, we're still nowhere near anything
approaching an "ideal" situation. We still pretty much only see the same
familiar heroes (and many thanks to them—you know who you are![4]) and the
limited number of new faces we've gotten is far offset by the platform's
growth. What little that's actually been done to address the issue in the last
4 years feels more like a giant bandaid that Nokia can use as an excuse to
continue ignoring it than any longterm solution.

We need a real commitment from management if we want to see any real longterm
improvement here, but let's start simple. Any interested volunteers should
spend 20 minutes a week (either from one person or divided amongst several)
addressing NEW non-enhancement reports in their product(s) in
bugs.maemo.org.[5] Easy, relatively painless and FAR less time than any of the
top ten or twenty triagers spends of their own UNPAID time.

So, what do you say? Let's let Andre focus on more important stuff than playing
telephone and try to make the platform better for everybody.

[2]We're getting nearly 250 new reports a week, more since PR1.1 came out.
[3]Many new reports are receiving only the most basic level of triage to fix
the most basic stuff. We have a lot of incoming reports that aren't receiving
the attention they need, so here's my small plea to anybody willing to invest
the time to look at just 5 bugs a day to do so. Thanks!
[4]I'm still planning on putting a "Bugzilla Report Card" together to point you
out more directly, though.
[5]Looking at a product like the Application Manager, there are only 11 NEW
non-enhancement reports currently open. http://tinyurl.com/y97pk3t
