Hi Jason,
Those are the exact same error messages that I'm getting, and the
behavior is the same for me under Slackware 10.1. There was one
deviation for me with the installation when I was forced to move (due to
space restrictions on my root drive) the location of the scrachbox
package to my /home directory (which is where I mount my second,
and larger, partition), and then link /scratchbox to /home/scratchbox.
Aside from that I used the exact configuration from the tutorial, and
the output matched the tutorial exactly. In fact the installation steps
from the tutorial seemed to be going so smoothly that I was shocked
when "af-sb-init.sh start" threw errors.
Since it seems that, perhaps, the non-standard location of scratchbox
might be an issue (seems odd, but I've seen stranger things) I think
I'll resize my root partition and give this another try over the weekend.
That should not effect things. I have been using scratchbox trough
a symlink from /opt always.
The output from your previous mail included an x error to sapwood
server, that crashed it. That certainly will cause the
UI to loose the theming. Are you using Xnest? It can not
fake the colour depth of your display.
I'm not sure, but if the X on your Host is running at 24 bit colour depth
and you run Xnest on top of that, also Sapwood running inside Xnest is
reported the bitdepth 24. And it supports only 16 bit colour depth. So you
must run Xephyr that can fake the colour depth or reduce the number of
colours in your host X. First option sounds better I think :-)
Br,
Sampo
