Just to chip my 0.2ยข in, I think porting a massive memory-hungry
thingamajick like gimp to a processing power and (relatively) memory
limited machine is cool at best, but has less use value than a bazooka
in fly-hunting.

However,  a subset of image processing tools focused on photo
retouching and tailored for low memory footprint (at the cost of speed
of course) would be a nice and smart thing to have on this device.

For example, you could take some pictures with your camera (using
RS-MMC or adapter for one[1]), put the card into n770, retouch your
favourite annoyances from the picture, resize/crop it and dump it to
your website without ever touching a PC.


[1] Disclaimer: I dunno if either of those exist :)
