They use the NX client but the nx core libs are GPL and the NX client actually only prepares the enviroment and call the core components in the right order with the right parameters to start the se3ssion. Once the session is started, the client itself is closed.
I've complied the GPL'd NX libraries from nomachine in my scratchbox which isn't a problem. The problem is finding a working GPL'd client. I started to use a python NX client and it is fairly straight forward to make a connection to the server if you don't mind using plain text authentication (tunneled through ssh). But I haven't had time to do any more work on this.
