Who said they are surfaces? You might have graphicsl elements that you want to draw that are represented more effciently in some vector description than in the rasterized surface, (think, a circle filled with a radial gradient which is represented with little more than a handful of numbers). But in spite of that, "accelerated graphics implies more memory usage" has no support at all. Accelerated graphics just implies that things get drawn faster. (Now, if that extra speed then leads to people drawing new things that then require more memory, that's a totally separate issue...) -Carl
