Packages for lua 5.1 and wxlua 5.1 are now available on my site ( http://tomshirro.org/lua-maemo ). Eventually I'd like to set up a maemo-garage project for this stuff, but I'm still pretty n00b at that part of the game. I'm also curious whether and how they'll install on a Nokia 770; they seem to work ok on my N810.
