Niels, I have just attempted to promote the 5 GPE apps which work on Fremantle (starling doesn't work at the moment) to extras-testing.
The Extras-testing wiki page warns that the promotion interface could be a bit slow but I am wondering if it has broken. The first 3 apps went fine: I clicked on "promote package" and they came back in a minute or so. But gpe-contacts and, now, gpe-calendar have each sat for over an hour with no response. I cancelled and retried and got a message saying promotion had already happened. I note that none of them have yet appeared on the "QA queue" page but I presume that is because there is still a manual element to the process for now. Should I submit a bug report or are you aware of a problem?
