Sorry for the late reply -- I have been on holiday. I don't think I will ever get around to developing them myself but I would very much like to have some apps based on this (e.g. cataloguing books, maybe maintaining lists of things in the store cupboard, etc.). So, I hope there will be some takers for such an API.
