Status bar is what it's commonly called, it's part of hildon-status-menu
which is open source.
Have you seen this kind of behavior before on N900?
Can't say I have, sorry.
Mumble is using QT (and grepping gtk will give only couple of
"gtk-dialog-info", "gtk-edit","gtk-dialog-error" ..)
