Hi,

@Koos:
it's a PySide app and I might be able to use something like xtest to simulate a click. IMHO there are two issues: There are manifold modal dialogs to be considered (connection chooser, internet connection failed yes/no dialog). And it's hard to determine if a modal dialog is really shown.

@Thomas:
thanks for the info about the possibility of "random reboots"!

The strategy I have implemented is as follows:
When QNetworkSession's open()-method is called a QTimer with 2 minutes is started. When QNetworkSessions's opened-SIGNAL is emitted (i.e. connection was successfully established) the timer is stopped. In the worst-case-scenario the 'connectivity-ui-conndlgs'-processes are killed every 2 minutes. Would be nice if there was a possibilty to communicate with the 'connectivity-ui-conndlgs' via dbus. That's not possible, is it?

Hi!

I finally found a solution I wanted to share with you:

killall -9 osso-connectivity-ui-conndlgs

All modal dialogs associated with connectivity (i.e. connection could not be
established etc.) disappear. The watchdog automatically recreates the
connectivity-ui-conndlgs processes.

Just an idea, can't you use the Xtst library to fake a mouse click?
(see /usr/include/X11/extensions/XTest.h and link app with -lXtst)
Obviously you have to be sure the dialog is shown and to click
somewhere above it.

Koos

Hi!

Is it possible to "kill" a modal connection dialog with a dbus-signal?

Issue:
When the default connection cannot be established, the
QtNetworkSession.open()-method opens a modal connection dialog. The user
either has to select a connection or close the dialog. How can I close
this dialog _without_ user interaction?

Thanks,
Dominik
