Looks as though that decision has been reversed!
According to the posting on 2013/01/04 in Comment 27 in:

"Grub2 is not the default bootloader - nor will it be, certainly
for the life of Mageai3 - it is a proposed *option*, under
test."
Maybe I got it wrong, but I still think that's how it will turn out ;)
