Are that long wait on installing GRUB on Virtualbox fixed?
If you're referring to my report of mkinitrd failing, https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44 I'm still working on getting a kernel compiled using 100 HZ instead of 1000 HZ, to confirm that is the cause of the problem. For some reason, the server kernel won't boot in VirtualBox, on this system. I compiled the kernel once already (took about 48 hours), but didn't have enough space in the / file system for the install, and ended up with a non-bootable Virtual system. I've reinstalled, after moving the .vdi file from an ext4 filesystem to an ext2 filesystem, which improved responsiveness enough to allow the mkinitrd to finish, during the install. I'm now about 24 hours into compiling the kernel, and will update the bug report when I have stats on the difference. I'll dig further into the server kernel failing to boot once I'm done with compiling/testing this kernel (desktop kernel with only the HZ option changed). Regards, Dave Hodgins
