I was just curious about this.

We had our home wired for 10/100/1000 Mbit/s about 10 years ago. Ever since our family has grown and now we are of course mingling a main router with switches.

My question is, if we are wired for 1000 Mbit/s should I be purchasing router and switches that work at this speed. I have quite frankly never really worried about this as our speed was quite decent.

I imagine there is some way of finding out the speed of our connections throughout the house, or, ultimately, would it be determined by the modem or router?

Thanks for any info. If I can get a speed boost by upgrading, then I think this is something my wife and kids would all be in favour of doing. ;-)
