Rats! Testing the Mageia 2 RC, and the upgrade to openjdk 1.7 disabled
icedtea-web. I know
I can install Oracle's JRE and get it to work with that, but I've gotten so I

the icedtea plugin works better. Besides, icedtea-web is open source, and
Oracle's
offering isn't.

Is anything in the works to get an icedtea-web that works with the new openjdk?

I have icedtea-web installed and works just fine. I also have both
java-1.7.0-openjdk and
java-1.6.0-openjdk installed. icedtea-web requires java-1.6.0-openjdk. So i
don't see the
problem.

I was wrong about the upgrade breaking it. Apparently, as installed in a clean install from the DVD, icedtea-web doesn't work properly. I tried a new install on another computer, and when I looked in Firefox the icedtea plugin wasn't shown. This was before any upgrades. I removed the icedtea-web package and installed it from the repositories. That did it - the plugin showed up in Firefox and worked. Went through all the upgrades, and it still works.

So I don't know what, but there's something wrong with the installation of icedtea-web from the DVD.
