Just an addition from fresh commiter :-) If you are interested to maintain translation history in the header of translation file which Tranifex just eliminates, then - as you need to rename files anyway because files downloaded from Transifex have pattern X.pot_y.po and you need it as y.po for SVN - you may just open both SVN file and Transifex file in Kate or other capable editor and copy the header, maybe updating the information with yourself :-) before saving it and committing to SVN.
