Hi there,

we just noticed some bigger problems with our transifex.

First there is https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4499
It means, we can't download files, work on them offline and upload them again. And, more serious: We can't upload changed pot files any more, meaning any new or changed strings in our tools will be untranslated, when this doesn't get fixed.

Second, there is https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3907
This means, there are several strings, localized in the online editor, but not in the downloaded po file. It seems only to affect the 1_ branches, not the cauldron ones, but we did only check some files not all.

A third problem which was seen by Akien: Some translations in one of the French po files were messed up, meaning the wrong french translation being used for a few strings.

The third one coul be "human interference", perhaps someone did mess it up without noticing, but it sure means, there could be another problem.

Now what does that mean for us?

First and most: we have to be extra careful!
If Tx does give you any warnings at all, be carefull what is happening and check and recheck the file you are working on. And second: the commiters should watch for English strings in the translations, as far as we have seen it, it's only longer multi line strings, but watch out.

The other possibility would be to completely leave Tx out of it, which might be a solution for smaller (partly one man) teams, but for the bigger ones, it would be hard to organize.

We will try and investigate and find a solution to all of this.

Please be careful!

Oliver
