Not sure I can help much, but have you posted your IM configuration?
convert -list configure
Look at the DELEGATES line and see if gs and freetype are listed.
Here is mine:
DELEGATES bzlib fontconfig freetype gs jpeg jp2 lcms lqr openexr
png tiff x11 xml zlib
