My only thoughts to follow up with this is that IM does not read all 
TIFF fields and complains when there is some custom field that it 
knows nothing about (as it has not been programmed for that field). 
TIFF is a very flexible format with regard to added custom fields 
that do nothing but keep non-image related data. But it still 
converts the file. It is possible in your earlier version of IM, that 
it was not so picky about reporting the unknown field, but at some 
recent update, it was made to be more strict about reporting these 
even though it converts the image in most cases in my experience.
