I'm using perl magick at the moment, but I'm just wondering if I'm missing
anything in general.

Whenever I try to annotate white text onto a CMYK jpeg, it's not white.
It's 54% black (so it's grey). The jpeg came from a PSD, so it may be some
color settings maybe, but fooling with those, the jpeg comes out all wrong.
I'm new to CMYK, so I just don't know what to do.

Here are the steps:
open CMYK jpeg
annotate text (tried 'white', almost every variation of '#FFF' and '#000',
same with cmyk('0', '0', '0', '0'))
save jpeg anew

When I open the jpeg into photoshop, it tells it's 54% black (when it should
be white maybe 0% black) or the text doesn't show up at all (almost like I'm
setting an alpha) (ok, I tried yellow, and it's 54% black too)

Any ideas where I should start to look?

Thanks!
Michael.
