| /tmp% convert thumbnail.gif -matte -fill none -draw 'matte 0,0 reset'
| -background none -fill white -stroke none -strokewidth 0 -draw
| "@rounded_corner.mvg" rounded_corner_mask.png

| Any ideas?

the file rounded_corner.mvg contains the measurements for the border
and was calculated using a separate command.

  convert thumbnail.gif -border 2 \
          -format 'roundrectangle 1,1 %[fx:w-2],%[fx:h-2] 15,15'\
          info: > rounded_corner.mvg

The two commands are needed. One to get the measurements and work out
the frame size, the other to apply the frame size using -draw.

Later in the examples from which this came
   http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/thumbnails/#rounded_border

Is a ALL in one command (with slightly more complexity), though it
still needs a temporary file!

The non-framed rounded corner examples is simplier.

| BTW:
|
| At home% convert -list alpha
| Activate
| Deactivate
| Off
| On
| Reset
| Set
|
Yes an early version. Probably broken!
The operator was still in development at that time.

| On the server% convert -list alpha
| Activate
| Background
| Copy
| Deactivate
| Extract
| Off
| On
| Opaque
| Set
| Shape
| Transparent
|

Not the very latest but goo enough.
