With pdf files you can do supersampling using the density convert -density 288 image.pdf -resize 25% image.png but this only works with vector input images to my knowledge. using 600x600 does not force the result to 600x600, but scales the largest dimension to 600 and the smaller is kept at the same aspect ratio. see 600x600! to resample to exactly 600x600. also see 600x600^ to resize to the smaller dimension and have the larger keep aspect ratio. see http://www.imagemagick.org/script/command-line-processing.php#geometry you can use various filters with -resize -filter xxx -resize 600x600 see http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/resize/#artifacts http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/resize/#filter Sorry, perhaps you can post links to an example of your input and output image Are you using the latest IM?
