I've checked and Magpie does support Atom. I'm fairly sure that the problem is the query string parameters.

However if I add the feed into an RSS block in Moodle when the titles are clicked they go to the root of the Moodle site and not through to Mahara. Other RSS feeds work as expected. Additionally is possible it would be good for these links to be able to automatically sign a user into Mahara when clicked.
