 Hello,

first of all, thanks a lot for your help offer, it's much appreciated!
Now if you want to start working on Mahogany, the first thing to do is
to get the sources from the cvs and build them. Currently you need VC++ 6
(7 doesn't work and I don't have it to test it, 5 might work but not sure)
to do it but this probably wouldn't be a problem to you. Normally it should
build out of the box but you'd still have to download/check out (the latter
is preferred) and build both wxWindows and Mahogany which could take some
time. Of course, please feel free to ask here if you have any problems.

BTW, the above is, in fact, the second thing to do -- the really first
thing to do is to subscribe to this mailing list. It's quite silent right
now so don't be afraid to be overwhelmed by mail.

Next, when you have Mahogany up and running, play a bit with it, look at
what you like and what you don't like. Have a look at the files in doc/tech
subdirectory -- they're out of date but could still be useful -- and maybe
run doxygen (www.doxygen.org if you don't know it) using the config files
from doc/doxygen to look at some auto-generated docs.

Finally, choose a task or at least an area you'd like to work in. I.e.
GUI, network code, PGP support and so on. To have a look at what I think
should be done in the near future, look at doc/RoadMap.txt. It might be a
bit cryptic for someone unfamiliar with Mahogany but some items should be
clear. For example, I'd kill for a decent spell checker support in M and,
moreover, it shouldn't be difficult to do -- but unfortunately I don't have
time for it as there are other "small" things I want to fix first.

Again, please ask if you need more information/help or if you have
suggestions, ideas, whatever.

Looking forward to hearing more from you!
VZ
