I've saved the folder to a file and attached it to my original mail
([M-Dev] Unknown encoding sends M in a loop).
I tried to look at it in the debugger, but I wasn't able to reproduce it.

I was able to get out of the loop by clicking the dialogs faster than they
would show up (ugh!) and after that it was ok.
