Indeed, there is a problem: the old logic doesn't work any more with
automatic viewer selection. I could fix it while keeping everything the way
it worked before but I can't prevent myself from thinking that maybe the
current behaviour is not the best.
Basically, when the user selects a viewer from the "Viewer" menu the
following could happen:
1. the viewer is changed just for the current message and reverts to the
configured one when the user switches to another message (we'd probably
need an item "save current viewer" in the menu then to make the change
stick)
2a. it's changed for all messages in this folder but the change is not
saved in profile, i.e. if you go to another folder and then come back
the viewer reverts to the default
2b. the viewer is changed for this folder and saved to profile
3. the viewer is changed globally but is not saved in the profile because
then it wouldn't override the viewer settings for individual folders
while it must do it as otherwise selecting the viewer from the menu
might not change the viewer being really used and this would be really
confusing. Of course we'd also need "use viewer configured by default"
item in the viewers menu then to prevent this viewer override from
happening
The current behaviour is 2b but personally I think that either 1 or 3
makes more sense. Especially with the new automatic user switching I don't
think you'd really want to change the viewer for the entire folder but not
globally that often (of course it would still remain possible to do it from
the folder properties dialog, it just wouldn't be as fast to do).
If nobody has other opinions I'll implement 1 (and fix the bug reported by
Nerijus), but if you do have some thoughts on this matter please share
them.
Thanks!
