Yes the editor says it's OK to share drafts with a handful of project people. I think their main concern is that you'd make good reviewers, and they'd want to be involved in recording and managing your feedback.
But there seems to be benefit, and little harm, to showing you the relatively-finished draft of the key chapters, 2-5. I will mail them to you separately.
