Dear Friends,

Continuing ( in other forum ) the discussion regards to
College of Technology's improvement, I believe that the following are
the paramount issues

1. PLACEMENTS
2. FACULTY
3. MEDIA VISIBILITY/EXPOSURE

(Of course, Old rehashes of so many discussions already had on how to
improve the college )
An idea of a PR firm to handle Coltech's Media relations is excellent
and must be followed to the
logical exclusion. A couple of suggestions for that :

1. A dedicated Media committe headed by someone from the faculty, a
progressive and young person
(and not an old babu mentality guy). The reason why I am not
suggestiong someone from the Alumni
to head this is because I think that an Alumni, working for some
company, might not be able to do
justice to such a job, howsoever good his/her intentions might be.

2. Inviting people like Azim Premji, Narayanmurthy, Kumarmangalam Birla

-in short, reputed
industry captains, for Student interactions with adequate
media coverage.

These efforts will do their own to enhance Coltech's visibilty but
efforts have to be undertaken
to improve the product also- the students. The main emphasis should be
on World-class faculty. I
beleive this will be the cure for all of us. If we can attract and
retain top notch academics,
nothing like it. In front of this everything is secondary.

1. Asking alumni, especially those in the academic field, to recommend
names of competent people
and then pursuing them to come to the college.
2. Inviting more people from the industry to come and take specialised
seminars/courses/electives
as most of the times they have a practical edge to their teaching.

Best Regards,
pandey
