Greetings!
Earlier this month, WPAA Treasurer, Mr Girish Solanki decided to step down paving way
for other members of the association to assume this responsibility. Girish took this
decision in the wake of increased time and pressure that he is having to put in to
meet his personal and official commitments. WPAA respects and acknowledges his
decision and would like to thank him for all the great work that he has done in all
these years and for all his support in helping us reach where we are today. WPAA
wishes him all the best and we hope that he will continue to stay involved with WPAA
in whatever capacity possible and help us steer in the right direction.
On behalf of WPAA, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Mrs. Bhagwati
Karki, College of Technology, 1985 batch as our new Treasurer. Bhagwati has been very
closely following up on all the developments concerning WPAA since its inception and I
am confident that she will prove to be a great asset for the association. Please join
me in welcoming Mrs. Bhagwati Karki as our new Treasurer.
If any of you would like to join WPAA in any official capacity, please let us know. We
would be very pleased to have you on board.
In the upcoming events, there is a get-together arranged for all the Pantnagar alumni
visiting (or available during) IFT, 2003. Please contact Ashwini at 'akgupta at yahoo

Prof. O P Singhal, who retired from College of Technology not too long ago, is here in
USA visiting his son, Abhishek. He has expressed desire to meet the alumni and can be

As I have been emphasizing in the past, WPAA can be more effective and productive if
each one of us does our own part and for a start, sending in your membership fee would
not be a bad idea. Please take a minute and send in your payments. You can either use

As you might be aware that we have extended the PayPal system to support four
additional currencies: Canadian Dollars, Euros, Pound Sterling and Japanese Yen. You
can use these currencies at PayPal's payment option at WPAA website.

Here are the tasks that are either on-going or were accomplished in recent past:
*** Fund Drive ***
A sum of USD 3000 was collected for Computer Engineering Department, College of
Technology, during a 'Fund Drive' that lasted almost two years. The funds were
delivered to the then Vice-Chancellor, Dr. J. B Chowdhury in Feb, 2002. Head of
Computer Engineering Department, Prof. R N Mishra later informed us via an email that
a decision had been made to purchase a LCD projector for the department.
WPAA would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who contributed towards
this Fund Drive and helped it make a success.
*** WPAA Chapters ***
If you are a Coordinator of a WPAA chapter, a member of another Pantnagar association
or know about one, please log your entry here and share it with rest of us. Also, do
let us know if you need to setup a separate web page, chat room, mailing-list or any
other such web presence for your chapter.

*** WPAA Quiz ***
Pawan Nayal won the second quiz scoring 90%. There were 38 responses with an average
score of 64.21%. Congratulations Pawan !!!
