Greetings and a happy holiday season to all!
Not sure if you realized it too, but we did not have last two newsletters - partly
because I have been too busy and partly because, the promised help never arrived.
Regardless, it should not have happened and I hope to be extra careful in making sure
of that in the future.
Okay, moving on...last couple of months have been unusually active and here is why:
- There was a small get-together on Oct 12 at Niagara Falls. (They could not have
picked a better place!). The get-together was a real click and everyone had a good
time. Abhijeet has promised to share pictures soon.
- WPAA Mentor program got another participant in Prabhat Chaturvedi, Agri-Business
Management, 1995 batch, taking the total nos. of mentees to 17. This program has been
in place for a while now and we would like to know how useful, if any, you find it. If
you have any experiences about this program, good or bad, we would love to hear those.
- As most of you already know, Mrs. Bhagwati Karki took over as the new WPAA Treasurer
recently. In an effort to strengthen WPAA's financial position, she sent out an email
to the membership seeking financial support. Please submit your membership dues if you
have not yet done so. Any additional contribution will be greatly appreciated. You can

As you might be aware that we have extended the PayPal system to support four
additional currencies: Canadian Dollars, Euros, Pound Sterling and Japanese Yen. You
can use these currencies at PayPal's payment option at WPAA website.
- Earlier this month, Ashutosh Shukla of Technology college, 1987 batch stepped
forward to lead a WPAA chapter in his region, WPAA-Tamilnadu. Kudos to Ashutosh for
taking this initiative and we wish him all the help and support that we can. Ashutosh,
please let us know if you need to setup a separate web page, chat room, mailing-list
or any other such web presence for your chapter.
- I want to take this opportunity to thank Mrs. Preeti (http://www.itweblink.com/) who
has been helping us with new logos for WPAA. More importantly, she has been highly
instrumental in getting WPAA T-Shirts printed. YES, WPAA T-SHIRTS ARE HERE! I will be
sending out a separate email with details and links to some of its pictures. Preeti
and her husband, WPAA President, Dr. Ashwini Gupta, deserve all the praise for
accomplishing this wonderful project.
- As I had requested earlier also, I could use some help. If you are willing,
interested and committed to lend a helping hand, please contact me at admin at wpaa
dot org. I need help in managing mailing list, newsletter, website maintenance and
other such tasks. Also, I am working on the new version of WPAA website - one that
uses Perl, mySQL, XML and other neat stuff. If interested to join, please let me know.
And finally, we really love to hear from you - your feedback, comments and anything
that you would like us to know, is highly appreciated. Please write to us at 'admin at
wpaa dot org'.
Here are the tasks that are either on-going or were accomplished in recent past:
*** Fund Drive ***
A sum of USD 3000 was collected for Computer Engineering Department, College of
Technology, during a 'Fund Drive' that lasted almost two years. The funds were
delivered to the then Vice-Chancellor, Dr. J. B Chowdhury in Feb, 2002. Head of
Computer Engineering Department, Prof. R N Mishra later informed us via an email that
a decision had been made to purchase a LCD projector for the department.
WPAA would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who contributed towards
this Fund Drive and helped it make a success.
*** WPAA Chapters ***
If you are a Coordinator of a WPAA chapter, a member of another Pantnagar association
