Hi,

My Diaspora* pod is working well, https://diaspora-malayalam.rhcloud.com .

danialj...@diaspora-malayalam.rhcloud.com

If we need a custom domain we have to pay for adding SSL (required by
diaspora) in openshift, otherwise it is free.

Can you point your own domain there?

OpenShift Online Free account users are allowed 1 domain per username.
OpenShift Online Silver account users are allowed 2 domains per username.
You can also allow access to your domain names to another user which would
enable more than one domain name to show up on your account for use when
creating gears.

Also diaspora needs ssl to be able to connect with other pods. How much
> does ssl certificate cost?

All OpenShift users get the benefit of Shared SSL that uses the
rhcloud.comcertificate and allows you to access your application with
*https://app-namespace.rhcloud.com

It is only in premium plan.

At the Silver plan we include SNI based SSL for your custom domain.

What are the limitations of free plan? I think it is like a shared
> hosting plan with limitation on bandwidth.

We provide 3 small gears per user account. Each gear has 512MB of memory
(small gear) and 1GB of storage. It is not possible to combine them to make
one gear with 1.5GB of memory and 3GB of storage.
You can create up to 3 applications with your free resources, but to use
all 3 gears for one application, you can create a scalable
app<https://www.openshift.com/developers/scaling>

There are no bandwidth limits, but if you are constantly streaming tons of
data in and out, it is possible that security would look at what you are
doing.
