For the "qualifying MR", the least effort path is to search GitLab for issues tagged "easy" (low-effort) or "beginner-friendly" (requiring only basic Python programming knowledge, not knowledge of idiomatic Mailman code and architecture. Tagging is spotty, so if you don't find something with the tag search, I'd just start with a most recent first issues search, as useful but easy improvements get swept up over time. Note that issues tagged "easy" and "beginner-friendly" need to have MRs submitted within 48 hours of being claimed or you lose your claim. For details, see the Ideas Page.
