Finally i have resolved all previous issues. Mail is being sent, recieved etc etc (the /var/log/mailman/error was chmod to 644 by default i changed it to 664 and web interface started working)
Now i have turned on iptables (no point having it on during testing) and now outbound mail is stuck in the sendmail queue with host map: lookup (xxxx.com.au): deferred If i turn iptables off all mail is sent instantly - i can recieve mail with it on or off, no problem. I would like to run iptables on, and poke a hole for the DNS lookup (i assume this is what it is?) but i dont know exactly what i need to do, does anyone how to turn off this feature in sendmail, or which port i should allow in the firewall? i am happy to apply either as mine will be a fairly low volume list.
