Have you read and inwardly digested the README.QMAIL file in the MM distribution? Its a bit beyond me as I use Sendmail but it might help you on your way. Also try a search of the FAQ for qmail.
works great, WITH THE qmail-to-mailman.py helper program
I have a client using it very successfully.
