Is "domain.xx.xx" in your /etc/mail/local-host-names file?
Are you running an anti-spam or anti-virus program (that is being too
aggressive)?

Can you send an ordinary email to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"?
  echo hello |mail -s "test" [EMAIL PROTECTED]
