Is there any way to associate a name with an email address during a mass subscription?

1) Use Mailman 2.1.5
2) subscribe users as: "namestring" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
"namestring" can be "Joe" "John Smith" "Smith, John" "Pat and Joe Peterson" etc.
I also changed the subscribe and update forms and removed the "(optional)" notation next to the Name field so users feel obligated to enter a name if they join using the web forms.
