If you want the archives to be accessible, yes. Since Mailman puts a number of headers (and optionally, footers) on the outgoing messages which make reference to the archives, you will also break those links if you don't allow people to access the archives via the web.

Heck, you can skip just about anything you want. The question is whether or not you are willing to pay the price of doing so.


You could easily skip breathing, if you wanted. Of course, you wouldn't live too much longer, so the question is whether or not you know what the potential consequences are of your actions and whether you are willing to pay that price.
