So far as I can tell, this thread is about a problem with Defaults.py and the "DEFAULT_URL=" setting, and has nothing to do with the hiding of e-mail addresses. I think maybe you cut-n-pasted the wrong URL, or something.

If you're concerned about privacy issues, I'd encourage you to upgrade to version 2.1.5 and perhaps turn off the archive function, or at least make sure that people can't download the non anti-spammed version of the archives (see <http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py?req=show&file=faq04.034.htp>).

Looking at the list of patches for Mailman at <http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=103&atid=300103> and the list of known bugs at <http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=103&atid=100103>, I'm not seeing any obvious hits for "privacy", "hide" or anything relevant that comes up when you search for "spam". But maybe you should take a look around and see if you find anything that looks interesting to you.

I'd also encourage you to look through the FAQ at <http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py> and see if there are any other entries which are related to exposing e-mail addresses or privacy, and you can search the archives of the mailman-users list according to the instructions at <http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py?req=show&file=faq01.018.htp>.

If you can find anything that appears to be more specific to your problem, we might be able to provide better advice.
