Apparently the problem is a more severe than first thought. Some machines in the facility have power, some don't. It may take a while to sort everything out, but we do not yet know exactly how long.
In the meanwhile, the web administration folks have temporarily moved www.python.org to point to a different machine, which includes a list of all known mirror sites. Hopefully this will help people find the information they need.
