They may have been shunted. After you get the permissions fixed, try
bin/unshunt. This will finish processing any messages that were put
aside in qfiles/shunt/.

Otherwise, if they are not in the <listname>.mbox/<listname>.mbox file
and not in the archive, I don't think they are anywhere in Mailman.
