Changing PENDING_REQUEST_LIFE will not affect the lifetime of any
currently pending requests, but it will change the reported time in
messages such as

  Note that confirmation strings expire approximately
  %(days)s days after the initial subscription request.  If your
  confirmation has expired, please try to re-submit your subscription.

possibly causing confusion for the user who replies to an expired
invitation within the new time limit.
