There are a number of variables here. The two main ways that are used to sign messages with PGP are PGP/MIME and inline (or traditional) PGP (this message is signed using inline PGP). Which method is the poster using? What settings do you have for pass_mime_types (on the Content filtering admin page)? I send signed messages in both formats to various mailman lists without the text disappearing.
