What I actually suggest is reverting to your original main.cf (i.e.
remove the "mydomain = domain.tld" that you added and restore
"mydestination = $myhostname, localhost.$mydomain, localhost" except
just add domain.tld to mydestination as in

mydestination = $myhostname, localhost.$mydomain, localhost
   domain.tld
