It would be a somewhat messy hack to Mailman/Handlers/SMTPDirect.py to do it in Mailman. Depending on your MTA, you might be able to do it there if you have the MTA do the VERPing. See <https://bugs.launchpad.net/mailman/+bug/558067> for Postfix and <https://bugs.launchpad.net/mailman/+bug/558002> for qmail.
