I could probably come up with some example, but I’m curious whether

This is a general issue. MailMate is not particularly clever when it
comes to interpreting the selected text when this is used to
reply/forward an email. It could certainly be better, but it's not
currently a high priority item.
I hope it becomes one. I reply to messages multiple times a day and get
caught by this repeatedly.
