Just FYI…
MailMate does work with Apple’s app specific passwords, just don’t
use the FQDN’d email address for username. Truncate the
@me/mac/icloud.com and you’re good to go.

Hi,
Apple has announced (by email) that iCloud email accounts are going to
require the use of an app specific password. If you have an iCloud
email account then you might want to look into this before June 15th.
The email is described
[here](https://www.macrumors.com/2017/05/16/third-party-apps-passwords-icloud-access/).
How to do this is described by Apple
[here](https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204397).
For the record, there is currently no API available to MailMate to
avoid this additional step. This is only available to applications
created by Apple including Apple Mail.
