Annamarie,

My 2¢… On my version of MM, 1.14 Test Build 5964, also on the last official Beta release of 1.14 (5937) (you can get a list of all releases from the Help Menu, without installing them), the double-click, assuming that is what you are doing, does indeed open a read-only version of the file assuming MacOS and the app in question supports it. Preview supports a PDF file opening in read-only. And so I can confirm that a PDF in MM, opens in Preview and appears as Read-only.

Again, what would you like it to do - open as a new version of the file that can be saved to a new location? That would then become several more steps to store the file - select the new location, and save it - two more steps but certainly do-able) from there as a copy.

The workaround I suggest is use the “eye” icon instead to confirm it’s what you expect. Then the “down arrow” icon instead if satisfied with the quick look. With practice you’ll find it useful and saves steps (keystrokes).

Respectfully,

Henry Seiden

hi

Hasn’t been asked. I’m double-clicking on the attachment - as I have for the many years I’ve been using MM. It’s fine if I download and then open the file. But that’s an annoying extra step, right?
